New Tyre Labelling Explained

With tyre labelling due to come in to force in November 2012 consumers will soon have better information when it comes to buying new tyres.

Tyre labelling example

European regulation 1222/2009 means that customers buying tyres will have a better understanding of what they can expect from their purchase in relation to safety (wet braking) as well as the impact on the environment (rolling resistance & external noise). This information will be presented in a similar way to the label commonly found when buying electrical appliances such as a fridge.

TyreSafe, one of the UK’s leading tyre safety organisations, have put together a short video featuring the McIntyres that explains the new tyre label and some of the differences between “A” grades and “G” grades for each section.
